Warialda Works Meeting Minutes 22nd of September 2005

General Meeting of Warialda Works Committee held at the Warialda G & B Club

6 pm 22nd of September

Business Arising     

 

The group discussed the Rhythm on the Reedy event. Anne investigated 2 possible bands and one from Moree and the other from Boona and it was decided to book the band in Boonah for the 4th of March. The costs for the Boonah band would be $340 for 4 hrs or $560 for 5 hrs, decision to be made at a latter date. Anne also expressed that the band was willing to spend the afternoon before the event at the local high school. The proposed hours for the event are from 3pm – 8pm on the 4th of March 2006. The committee also discussed the possibility of approaching:

-         the business houses in Warialda to stay open until 3pm and also to help advertise the event on the radio

-         all the quilting clubs in the area to organise a joint display at the hall

-         Rivercare to have a display to inform the community of the work that they are doing including before and after photos

-         Joblink Plus or the SES for the use of the Marque

-         Rotary to cover the organisation of parking

-         Apex has already been asked about the possibility of providing hot food

 

ACTION – Anne will speak with Robyn Conway to see if the school band can contribute to the event and to work out the Boonah school visit.

 

ACTION – Rachel to ensure that Council can insure for the event

 

ACTION – Geoff was to discuss the Blues on the Riverbank event with the organisers to see what they would do differently.

 

Ken supplied a list of all the available eating houses and times that they are open for the tourists.

 

ACTION – Rachel to ensure that the times are made available for the tourists.

 

 

Sandra Male also supplied a letter discussing;

 

1) Fundraising by running a raffle

 

ACTION: Rachel to follow-up with the Department of Gambling and Racing

 

2) Christmas Tree

 

ACTION: to be discussed next meeting

 

3) Market Night

 

ACTION: to be discussed next meeting but also to acknowledge Jenny Cootes $100 donation

 

4) Repainting the power poles

 

ACTION: to be discussed next meeting

 

5) Reposition of the pots in the main street

 

ACTION: to be discussed next meeting

 

6) Garden maintenance – the committee believed that the gardens are looking good and that this wasn’t needed.

 

7) Bollards at Dean’s car park

 

ACTION: to be discussed next meeting

 

Yvonne when placing her apology also requested that the items below be discussed;

-         That the minute taking is shared around and that she apologises for not being able to make the meetings for possibly the rest of the year.

-         The accurate aboriginal meaning for Warialda is investigated.
