Warialda Works Minutes 17th August 2005

General Meeting of Warialda Works Committee held at the Warialda G & B Club

Minutes of previous meeting read.         1 Wes / 2 Jan C

Correspondence           Reply to YL’s  2nd letter to Attorney General’s Dept confirming that the Court House is to be painted.  Graham Wilson (Heritage Advisor) told YL that he would take WW”s concerns over the poor state of the building & grounds to GSC & MP Richard Torbay.

Business Arising            Jan C wrote to Max Eastcott  ( GSC ) re proposed public garden & she was advised that it would be discussed at the next Council Meeting (late Aug).

Wes has made a tentative booking with the Inverell Antique Motor Club for 4/3/06 for the Rhythm on the Reedy event.

Items pertaining to the planned event discussed  included: Music stage, power, lighting, vintage cars, insurance, costs ( which could be $2,000 ) – fundraising?, security, regulations re consumption of alcohol, portaloos, catering, post- event ‘clean-up’ & avoidance of clashing with another event in the Shire.

Suggestion was made that GSC be responsible for insurance & that Rivercare would take care of the grounds prior to the event.

Possible funding from GSC - $6,000 rolled over form last year & $5,000

NECU donated $500 towards mural & $200 for Warialda Works to use to help  run a fundraising function.

Anne J to book bands – reasonable quotes from a Moree band & a band from Buna

( Q’land )

General Business          Peter H reported on the progress of the shelter between GSC Office & Ryan’s Building.  More pillars are required as it is to be a free-standing structure.  Sandra M to donate a Port Wine Magnolia as a trial in one of the town pots.  Remainder of pots  which are empty may be planted with geraniums by WW members.

Motion             To ask GSC to move the cement pots ( considered to be more sturdy ) to Hope Street and the terracotta pots currently in Hope Street to be moved to Stephen.    The cement pots to be painted in a terracotta colour. 1 Sandra   2   Wes

Discussion on dearth of eating places of an evening during the week.  Ken B to make enquiries on the matter.

Peter H to publish an informative article on Warialda Works to encourage greater interest.

Meeting decided that GSC pay for meeting notice in Warialda Standard.
