Waste Management
Gwydir Shire Council has 7 landfills, 1 transfer station and provides a comingled fortnightly kerbside recycling service. The following pages have links to the Waste Management Plan, Recycling Facts Sheets, "What Goes in your Recycling Bin?" magnet and other waste management services. Worm factories can be ordered from council for a cost of $66. They come with full operational instructions and guide book, but worms must be purchased separately.
Waste Management Plan 2006 - Published: 08 Aug 2006
A Waste Management Plan has been prepared to meet statutory obligations and identify Council’s strategies in meeting ongoing community demands for the provision of a waste disposal facility which is cost effective. The plan details Council’s commitment to implementing practices to minimise harm to the environment within the community’s ability to finance protection measures. Regional Waste Management - Published: 08 Aug 2006
Council is a member of the Northern Inland Regional Waste (NIRW), which is a group made up from Council’s across New England and North West that develops and implements waste management programs on a regional level.
