Gwydir Community Services
The Shires main centres of Bingara and Warialda are serviced by modern medical centres and hospitals. These hospitals are in line to be upgraded to multipurpose health services which will provide first class primary health care to all in the shire.
There are specialist services to assist the aged and the disabled in the community to remain independent in their homes. these services include Home and Community Care Services, Community Transport, Home Care and Community Health Services.
To further assist families in the Shire the Council provides a number of services, including a Toy Library, Neighbourhood Centre, Early intervention Family Worker and a Youth Worker.
The Gwydir Shire places a strong focus on learning and has been working for a number of years to increase the opportunities for learning in the community. With a strong base of excellent education facilities including Pre-Schools, Public Schools, Catholic Schools, TAFE outreach centres and Vocational Education programs this aim is being achieved.
Both Bingara and Warialda provide Centrelink Agencies enabling Community members to access this service without the need for travel to a major centre.
